“Red is Best gets it right. This is a true children’s classic.” —Ken Setterington, author, storyteller, Children and Youth Advocate for the Toronto Public Library

“Delightful.” —School Library Journal

Young Kelly’s mom doesn’t understand about red. Sure, the brown mittens are warmer, but the red mitts make better snowballs. And the red boots aren’t just for rain; they take bigger steps in any weather. And, yes! a green cup does make a difference … juice tastes better in the red cup. No doubt about it, red is best.

Kathy Stinson’s classic tale of one toddler’s obstinate color preference has been charming readers for 25 years now. With over 275,000 copies in print, Red is Best has steadily marched its way to become a children’s book classic. Now a new generation of readers can discover Stinson’s insistent young heroine, aptly captured in the simple drawings by Robin Baird Lewis, each punctuated by the right dazzle of red.

With its plucky charm presented in a redesigned interior, and a special cover commemorating the book’s 25th anniversary, the re-release of Red is Best is sure to be a red-letter day.

We wish you could visit us in our store to pick up your order in person. But we know that's not always possible, so we rely on planes, trains and automobiles to bring you your order.

Please note, we can only ship Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Items will be shipped as soon as possible after the order is received.

Some larger items may be overweight and will have higher shipping fees.

Shipping to remote areas may incur extra shipping costs, we will contact you if this is the case.

Click N' Pick

If you are in the Kootenays, or if you are buying a gift for someone near our stores in Nelson and Rossland, BC, we offer an in-store pickup option free of charge. Choose "Pick Up In Store" for the appropriate location in the shipping options, indicate the recipient in the order notes and we will hold the item until they can pick it up.

WITHIN CANADA

All regular weight items are now only $10 and heavy weight items are $30. Some remote locations may have higher shipping costs, this will be $15 for regular items and $35 for heavyweight items. We ship using UPS or Canada Post Expedited Parcel, and all orders include tracking information.

If you require faster shipping please contact us before placing your order.

 INTERNATIONAL TAXES AND CUSTOMS:

Orders shipped outside Canada are not charged Canadian taxes; however, all orders go through the recipient country's customs and may be subject to import duties, taxes, and customs processing fees. We do our best to minimize these fees through our shipping methods, and by sourcing Canadian-made products, but are unable to estimate if any fees will be applied by the recipient country, or what the final fees will be. Recipients are responsible for paying these additional fees.

SHIPPING TO THE U.S.A.

The Basics: In a nutshell, we charge you what we are charged. Shipping rates will depend on the size and weight of the items you purchase, and how far away you are from where we are. You will be able to see the shipping options and charges before you complete your order.
Unfortunately, shipping costs to our Southern neighbours can be much higher than shipping within Canada. We apologize for the higher costs. It’s just out of our hands. Shipping times are also much longer due to customs, and again, we’re sorry! We do everything we can to expedite these processes and get your items to you as quickly as possible.

SHIPPING METHODS and APPROXIMATE SHIPPING TIMES
Orders sent to the USA will usually take approximately 5-10 business days for delivery except for orders sent to Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico; which can take up to 21 days for delivery. Faster delivery options are available and will be charged at actual cost. Please contact us for further information.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

The Basics: In a nutshell, we charge you what we are charged. Shipping rates will depend on the size and weight of the items you purchase, and how far away you are from where we are. You will be able to see the shipping options and charges before you complete your order.

We ship Monday-Friday (excluding Holidays) and we will ship the first available day.

As we mentioned above, we wish you could come to Mountain Baby in person, but since you can't, we'll do the best we can to get your order to you as quickly as possible.

General things to keep in mind:
  • Turn-around times can be incredibly quick (the elves in the back room are very efficient), so if you need to make any changes please do not delay in contacting us!
  • We will strive to get your order to you as quickly and efficiently as possible. But because we do not have our own fleet of Mountain Baby delivery vehicles (maybe one day?), we cannot absolutely guarantee delivery times. We will always do our best, and we hope the delivery companies will do the same. We are also, (as you might have guessed from the name!) located in a mountainous, remote area, so shipping costs may be slightly higher than from outlets that are in urban centres.
  •  We are a green, eco-conscious company, so we re-use our boxes. Do not fear if you receive a box that has the name of something you did not order. It’s just us recycling.
At Mountain Baby, we take pride in only selling high-quality, well-made products to help you and your family achieve the goals of being active, being in nature, and being together. If you have an item for return, please contact us to receive a Return Authorization Number.

The following policies apply to all returns:

  • Sales items are not returnable
  • Items must be returned within 30 days of receiving.
  • All products must have all original tags/packaging as well as any warranty cards.
  • The item must be unused and in mint condition.
  • Unless we made the mistake (or there is a manufacturer’s defect), the customer is responsible for all shipping & handling charges related to the return.
  • In the rare occurrence where we send the wrong product/colour, wrong quantity, or make another big boo-boo, we will gladly cover shipping costs ourselves (& promise to never do it again!)

How to Return an Item:
To return or exchange an item, contact us to receive an authorization number, then package your return as compactly & securely as possible (with all tags!) and send to:

IN CANADA: Please send all returns via INSURED, prepaid, regular parcel post (Canada Post).

Notes for All Returns from Everywhere:

    • Insuring your return allows you to track your parcel online. We cannot be responsible for uninsured returns.
    • We cannot accept CODs or courier deliveries (including UPS, Fedex, etc.) as all courier companies charge brokerage and duty fees.
    • For exchanges, we suggest you order a replacement as quickly as possible to ensure availability. We will refund your returned item as soon as we receive it.

REALLY IMPORTANT SIZING INFORMATION
To minimize returns, please read sizing charts very carefully. We have endeavoured to provide you with as much guidance as possible in choosing the right size. In general, with children’s wear, it is better to err on the side of “a little too big”, as children are constantly growing. Remember also that you want seasonal wear to last the whole season in terms of sizing. In terms of quality, all of our products are made to last and to be used over the years by several children.

If you have any questions about our Return Policy or Sizing Information, please call us at 1-888-990-2292  or email us at info@mountainbaby.com, and one of us would love to help you out.
